Expect a flurry of legislative action in the next few days. Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin will call the House of Delegates into a special session on Tuesday to elect a new Speaker.
Keith Gwinn, secretary of the state Department of Veterans Assistance, officially will resign on Saturday, and current Speaker Rick Thompson‘s appointment to Gwinn’s post is expected to become effective the same day. Tomblin likely will appoint a new delegate to take Thompson’s place on Monday or Tuesday, so they will be in place to vote for a new Speaker on Tuesday.
All this excitement almost makes me opine for the days of the regular session. Click here to read Dave’s full post about it.
