Here’s something you don’t often see in state government: the Public Employees Insurance Agency is operating far under budget through May. Most of that surplus was caused by lagging medical expense claims ( PEIA budgeted for $367.8 million in medical expense claims through May but members submitted only $325 million in claims). - As we reported yesterday, Speaker Tim Miley, D-Harrison, has announced his leadership team. Delegate Harry Keith White, the former Finance Committee chairman, and Delegate Brent Boggs, former House Majority Leader, will now trade jobs. When asked if that is a promotion or a demotion for White and Boggs, Miley said it was more of a “lateral move.”
