Multiple sources have confirmed Mark Bramble, an assistant attorney general in the office’s worker’s compensation division, is the suspect in a Monday morning incident at Sherwood Forest, a subdivision of Charleston’s South Hills neighborhood.
Attorney General Patrick Morrisey put out a press release Monday afternoon.
“We are relieved that no one in his family or neighborhood was injured and that all members of the law enforcement community are safe.
“As you know, details about this incident are still murky, and police are in the process of conducting a thorough investigation. We will have no further comment at this time.”
Morrisey said Bramble was hired by the Attorney General’s Office on June 1, 2012, under former Attorney General Darrell McGraw‘s administration.
Bramble turned in a notice of resignation last week, on Thursday, Aug. 8. The resignation was to go into effect Aug. 30.
