Attorney General Patrick Morrisey has hired Beth Ryan as his Director of Communications, according to a press release published Tuesday afternoon. She starts work on Monday, Feb. 11.
Ryan currently is managing editor of The State Journal, a weekly business paper based here in Charleston. Before landing at the Journal, Ryan worked as a special projects reporter for The Herald-Dispatch newspaper in Huntington.
Deputy Attorney General Richie Heath has served as Morrisey’s media contact since he took office last month. That’s been a less-than-convenient arrangement for media (and probably for attorney general staff, too) since Heath also had to do lawyer work on top of answering pesky reporters’ questions.
Ryan begins her job just in time for the 2013 legislative session, which begins Wednesday, Feb. 13.
