Today begins Dave’s three-part series about “Oxyana,” a new documentary set in Oceana, W.Va.The filmmakers say their movie is an exploration of how prescription pill addition affects communities across the country.
In the first part of his series, Dave takes a look at the film and the complaints it has received from Oceana residents and even other filmmakers.
The second story focuses on Wyoming County officials, who talked about the severity of drug addiction in their community. Despite criticisms of “Oxyana,” most everyone agrees the area has a severe drug problem. Since 2011, more than 65 people have died from drug-related incidents, according to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office.
Look for the third part in our “Oxyana” series in Monday’s Daily Mail, as longtime residents are trying to find solutions to their problems.
