Glasgow’s Volunteer Fire Department announced today that it has finalized plans for a land donation for the construction of a new fire station in the future.
Here’s a statement from Glasgow VFD Chief M.W. Blankenship that was sent to local media today:
“I’m pleased to announce after many years of hard work everything has been finalized for property to be donated to the Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department of a future site of a new station. This is a major mile stone for our department.
I would like to invite you and your peers to join our Department on Monday September 16th at 10:00 am for the deed signing. This will be held at the Council Chambers of Town Hall located on 4th Avenue in Glasgow.”

We’ll have more information as the story develops. It appears the land donation is related to AEP, which owns a coal-fired power plant in Glasgow that’s set to shut down in 2015.
