Preliminary figures from West Side Main Street show the organization’s annual OktoberWest event grew significantly this year over last.
West Side Main Street Director Stephanie Johnson said between 1,500 and 2,000 people attended the 2013 event on Oct. 12. Last year, 450 attended. Johnson is working on tallying the OktoberWest ticket stubs for an exact figure.
With the jump in participants comes a jump in net income from the event. Johnson said the event raised around $35,000, and after expenses, $22,000 of that amount will go back to West Side Main Street. Last year, the event made $10,500.
