March 21, 2014 by Matt Murphy

Here’s a recap of other Daily Mail coverage related to local government this week, March 17 to March 24:

Monday

CHARLESTON – Charleston’s city council voted to repeal the city’s handgun sales restrictions. Council also approved an ordinance meant to target vacant property in the city.

ST. ALBANS – St. Albans’s city council approved the city’s FY 2015 budget and a municipal storm water fee.

Tuesday

COUNTY (SWA) – The Kanawha County Solid Waste Authority discussed the pileup of recyclables at West Virginia Recycling Services’ facility on Slack Street. Though WVRS is a private company, the solid waste authority is the landlord.

Thursday

COUNTY (Parks) – The Kanawha County Parks and Recreation Commission heard that the transition of Shawnee Park to Dunbar is going well. The commission also discussed the possibility of charging fees to Kanawha County Schools sports teams if a “pay-to-play” policy for students is instated.

CHARLESTON – Charleston city council’s Finance Committee voted to approve the city’s FY 2015 budget. The full council will have the chance to vote on the budget on Monday.
