That’s right, kids. Broadcasting from Sweet Home Alabama means more Skynyrd references JUST BECAUSE, OKAY?!!?
We’re here at historic Legion Field, celebrating its 85 years of existence. She don’t look a day over 76. To be honest, it doesn’t look too bad for its age. Just a shame that, from everything I’m told, there won’t be many more than the folks on the field and the press box to appreciate it.
The biggest news before the game is that senior wide receiver Aaron Dobson — captain, Biletnikoff Award watch-lister, preseason all-C-USA first teamer — tweeted that he will not dress for the game. That robs the Herd of a veteran averaging 5.9 catches and 68.7 yards per game who’s been a pretty big deep threat in the past. That threat could be rekindled by Davonte Allen, who caught four passes for 87 yards, including a 28-yard touchdown in Marshall’s win over Memphis.
A couple more folks didn’t make the trip — DB Corie Wilson and DLs Malcolm Strong and Ken Smith. Strong has played in five games this year. Corie Wilson has spelled Okechukwu Okoroha at points this season. Smith’s absence is a little surprising, considering he started his first game back against Southern Miss.
That’s about it from here. A lot of folks are talking shootout for this game. I can see it reaching the 40s for both teams, but I don’t think we should expect Georgia Tech-UNC today. If any more news appears, we’ll return, if not …
Happy Taking of the Over, y’all.
