Didn’t I say that Chuck McGill was a smart guy?
(No, I’m not trolling for a good evaluation. Why do you ask?)
Mr. McGill wrote in today’s Daily Mail that Middle Tennessee State could be a distinct possibility as a new member of Conference USA.
Later in the morning? Word gets out that MTSU is C-USA bound.
It’s a nice pickup — Competitive team. Upset ACC title game participant Georgia Tech this season. Beat current C-USA and future Big East member Memphis. Beat future C-USA members FIU and North Texas. Gives the conference a foothold in the Nashville market.
The only drawback — “Murfreesboro” will cause a lot of sportswriters’ spell-checking programs to melt down.
That leads us to the next question: When and where does the next shoe drop? If you go by Chuck’s column, cast your eyes toward Western Kentucky or FAU. WKU would work from a competition standpoint. FAU would work from a location standpoint.
