Eligible junior college players can sign letters of intent starting today, and Marshal just got its first one from Holmes Community College safety Taj Letman. After losing Dominick LeGrande and Okechukwu Okoroha to graduation, he’s a welcome addition to the Thundering Herd. Here’s a little about him:
Holmes Community College (Goodman, Miss.)
Letman, originally from Elberton, Ga., missed the 2012 season at Holmes with an injured finger, so he should have three years of eligibility at Marshall. As a freshman in 2011, he recorded 59 tackles and broke up 10 passes as a free safety.
247Sports.com rated Letman the No. 74 overall juco prospect and the No. 4 juco safety prospect in America.
Rivals.com, ESPN and Scout.com all rated him a three-star recruit. He also was a standout high school track and field athlete. As a senior at Elbert County High, Letman finished tied for third in the Class 2A Georgia state championships
with a high jump of 6-foot-4. He also was clocked at 14.2 second in the 110-meter hurdles during that season.
Letman also held offers from Baylor, Kentucky, Nebraska and Purdue.
Check the blog for any more mid-year Marshall additions as the letters of intent come in. There should be at least one more.
