Every year, national college football pundits roll out a list of bowl projections, attempting to predict every bowl game before one second of real-live college football is ever played.
What do we do here at the blog? We enable them, that’s what!
Below is a list of some of the nation’s top college football experts and where they think the Thundering Herd will end up this postseason:
Jerry Palm (CBS Sports) – New Orleans Bowl vs. La.-Lafayette
Phil Steele – Liberty Bowl vs. Arkansas
Mark Schlabach (ESPN.com) – Military Bowl vs. Pitt
Brad Edwards (ESPN.com) – Military Bowl vs. Virginia
Stewart Mandel (SI.com) – Liberty Bowl vs. Tennessee
National Football Post – Hawaii Bowl vs. San Jose State
Athlon – Military Bowl vs. Maryland
College Sports Madness – Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl vs. South Florida
Jason Kirk (SB Nation) – Armed Forces Bowl vs. Utah State
Some observations from that list:
– Pretty much everyone feels the Herd will bounce back from last season’s losing record.
– Phil Steele continues to go all-in on his prediction that Marshall will be the nation’s most improved team, picking the Herd to win the Conference USA title and play in the Liberty Bowl. Stewart Mandel has joined him in that camp.
– There’s not much consensus on where Marshall will go. The top pick comes from three guys who all picked the Military Bowl. There’s no agreement on who the Herd would play, though. Three different ACC teams are on the list. You won’t hear me complain about the bowl site. Annapolis is one nice town.
So what say you?
