We’re adding a couple new entrants into the mix this week. USA Today and Athlon updated their bowl projections. If those folks update again next week, we’ll keep them on the list.
Mark Schlabach (ESPN.com) — Hawai’i Bowl vs. San Diego State
Brad Edwards (ESPN.com) — Liberty Bowl vs. Missouri
Jerry Palm (CBS Sports) — Liberty Bowl vs. Tennessee
College Football News — Liberty Bowl vs. Vanderbilt
Sporting News — Armed Forces vs. Navy
USA Today — Beef ‘O’ Brady’s vs. Washington State
Athlon — Military Bowl vs. North Carolina
Marshall winning C-USA and the Liberty Bowl berth continues to be the most popular pick and, as it has been so far this year, the Marshall-East Carolina game is still considered the de facto conference title game. Every pundit who doesn’t pick Marshall for the Liberty Bowl goes with ECU.
USA Today’s pick is … interesting, but not so much because of the location. I heard just about everyone who went to St. Pete in 2011 loved it, and it gives the 34 Floridians on the roster another chance to play in their home state. But Wazzu as the opponent? Pullman, Wash., to St. Petersburg, Fla.? Does Mike Leach want a quick post-bowl trip to Key West, or are the Cougars trying to stock up on frequent flyer miles?
