Whatever happened to bookstores?
I mean, I know, the answer is a) Amazon, b) e-books and c) the economy.
But it’s still weird. I can’t tell you how many lifetime hours I’ve spent nosing around in bookstores. And now the mall here, with the demise of Borders, is about to have no bookstore at all and probably won’t again.
Then there’s Books-A-Million. When we go there, we go to eat yogurt at the new Yogurt Mountain shop inside the bookstore where the cafe used to be.
Apparently, so does everybody else.
Well, now it has frozen yogurt. And it’s tasty.
Yogurt Mountain stores are the ultimate self-serve frozen yogurt experience featuring 16 rotating flavors of delicious, authentic frozen yogurt and over 50 toppings. All of our Yogurts are fat free or low fat and feature probiotics, which can help promote a healthy digestive and immune system.
Uh-huh. Well, the main thing is, you can pick your yogurt flavor and then slather it with gummy bears or smashed Reese’s Cups or strawberries or whatever you want.
The last time I was there, the yogurt shop was packed with people.
And the bookstore? Oh, yeah, that. Well, there were some people there, too, thumbing through paperbacks.
Does a bookstore have to have a yogurt shop to survive these days?
