Pepperoni rolls — official WV state food?

A food fight broke out after the West Virginia House of Delegates took up a resolution to make pepperoni rolls the official state food. Pepperoni rolls are wildly popular in WV, but what about biscuits and gravy, hot dogs with slaw or fried bologna sandwiches?

Pepperoni rolls my butt. If they’d been invented 100 years ago it would’ve been called “hunkie food” by miners and all the others in the coal camps.

Beans & cornbread is poor folks’ food, not West Virginia specific. Slaw dogs at least are somewhat tied to the region (not just the state).
